Notes: THIS IS NOT A WANDRE - THIS IS NOT A WANDRE - THIS IS NOT A WANDRE
I just wanted to get that right out of the way upfront, or I know I am going to get an inbox full of keyboard warriors heranging me otherwise. This is more of a poor man's Wandre - i.e. someone's VERY impressive attempt at reproducing the iconic post-modern Italian guitar of lore.
I did some trading for this guitar at the Eastside Bowl Gear Swap in Nashville back in July. I wish I knew who put it together, but the shop I traded didn't know who put it together either. I can however attest to the fact that they did a pretty good job. The guitar intonates, plays very well and seems to be incredibly well thought out to copy the vibe of Wandre.
Here are the parts:
- The body is handmade I would assume, and hand painted with stencils. Very lightweight, maybe made of Basswood or Lightweight Ash or Poplar something similar.
- The neck is a 1960s Micro-Frets Zip-a-Tone neck. Maple and rosewood, and boy those frets are tiny. Gives the guitar a very vintagey feel.
- 1960s Kawai Japan "Skinny Toaster" pickup with custom mounting ring
- 1960s MIJ Roller Bridge
- 1940s-1950s Regal Tailpiece
- 1970s Spade Head MIJ tuners
- Custom MOP control plate and resin epoxy knobs
- Stringjoy Strings and a good pro setup!
As always, we cleaned it up, polished the finish, flushed the electronics (if applicable), changed the strings, performed all routine maintenance and set the action low and smooth. All of our packages are packed tight enough to survive the apocalypse and we insure every parcel for the full purchase amount.
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
