Here for sale is a literal one-of-a-kind instrument. If you are not familiar with Lockhorn Instruments, they are one of the best kept secrets in stylish and unique boutique gear. They have made instruments for quite a few notable indie artists such as The Drive By Truckers, Macie Stewart, Marbin and more. 

All Lockhorn Instruments are made by the one and only, luthier & goofball extrodinaire Benny Munson. Benny and I met a few years ago back when Benny was still working at Serek Basses. There are few people I have met in the gear industry that I have hit it off with like I hit it off with Benny. Not only is he a VERY talented craftsman, but he is also a genuinely nice guy who is one of the funnier fellas I have ever met. If you do not follow him on social media, I recommend it. It is a riot.

The Zipper’s great-granddaddy on its mother’s side was a Harmony Stratotone. Its fraternal grandparents were both (unrelated) Fender Telecaster Thinlines. Talk in town is that it’s got a great uncle who might have been a Gibson Melody Maker. It hangs out with Danelectros on the weekends.

The Zipper’s heart came from the Sears Roebuck catalog for Christmas morning. Its guts are sturdy and persistent like the Hoover Dam.

It’s the Hydrox or Oreo cookie of electric guitars. A hollowed-out wood center block and walls are the white stuff. Top and back plates of complimentary wood are the cookies. It strings through the body over a tailpiece that came to me in a dream. The tailpiece and string-through-edness are what make this sucker ring. “Zip,” if you will.

The electronics switching and control plate are the real selling point of the guitar. You get five switching options: Top, Bottom, Both Series, Both Parallel or Both Phase. It gives you kind of a rediculous tonal range for a guitar with only two lipsticks. The neck has a medium to chunky C and feels great in the hand. Overall, I cannot sing the praises of thise guitar enough, it is a real player.
