You don't see many of these for sale. DTS Audio Research only built a handful of these pedals, and those who still have one will hold onto it for dear life. This came in on trade from a regular who was reluctant to let it go, so you should snatch it up before he changes his mind!
The builder has an old website where he documented his building process. Definitely cool to read through! trabantland[dot]wordpress[dot]com
From the manufacturer:
The vintage SDD-3000 preamplifier section in a compact pedal form.
The SDD-3KP is powered by 9VDC, but internally up-converts the voltage to give the full tone and headroom of the original vintage rack unit.
Sonically, it can be described as a clean booster, but it is not 100% clean and compresses the signal slightly. When paired with VOX AC30 or AC15 tube amp, the tone and feel is quite addictive. It hits the perfect sweet spot between overdriven and clean, being extremely responsive to your picking/attack.

The SDD-3KP does have a polarity protection diode that may prevent the damage from being catastrophic, but please double-check your adapter before you use it. (Many adapters for Line6 products such as the POD and M13 put out AC and not DC.) The SDD-3KP will be fine with typical DC power supplies used for pedals with center negative polarity, such as the Boss PSA series, One Spot, or Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 Plus, etc. Just power it like a small Boss stompbox (SD-1, CS-3, etc.) and it will be happy.
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
