El Degas Lawsuit Era J-Style Electric Bass w/ HSC (1970s - Sunburst)

Model: El Degas J-Style

Finish: 3-Tone Sunburst

Set-up & Playability: Plays great with low action!

Case: Hardshell case

Notes:

Here for sale is a Lawsuit era J-Style bass. It is pretty dead-on lawsuit, down to the headstock, made by Mastsumoku in the early to mid 1970s. This one is full scale (34").

This thing is amazing. The neck is a fat C and feels great in your hands - 2 pc neck with MOP blocks. Just the full package -- this is as close as you can get to having real vintage Fender vintage without sawing off the arm, or taking out the second mortgage. The mahogany body and solid maple/rosewood neck make it a pretty hefty bass, but the density gives it a FAAAAAT rounded tone. Very 70s. It is hefty, but not a complete backbreaker.

The pickguard is vintage celluloid and the thumbrest is convenient and stylish. The finish is in great shape, with the kind of patina people pay big money for -- the bass looks well loved, but not beat to hell. (See pics for full details.)

The minihumbucker style pickups sound fat and full. The neck is super straight and the truss rod still has room to turn. This is honestly one of the most serviceable lawsuit era basses I have ever had. It has been incredibly maintained.

As always, we cleaned it up, polished the finish, flushed the electronics (if applicable), changed the strings, performed all routine maintenance and set the action low and smooth. All of our packages are packed tight enough to survive the apocalypse and we insure every parcel for the full purchase amount.
