Regal Lap Steel Guitar Pickup w/ Electronics, Knobs & Mounting Bracket (1930-40s - Silver / Mahogany)
Every look out, here comes Grampa...
Here for sale is a really cool vintage lap steel pickup in recently serviced / good working order. Recently I bought a lot of acoustic guitars that were all in some kind of shape from a fella in Knoxville. (Shout out to my bandmate / friend / Knoxville correspondent Ben for picking those up for me)
In one of those guitars was this vintage lap steel pickup with vintage electronics and oil and paper cap. The guitar had a neck that could pass for a spiral staircase, but the pickup works! The lead was cut super short, but I was able to lengthen the leads with vintage spec cloth wire. We clipped it in and it works great. Electronics have all been cleaned and the plate was cleaned of most of the oxidation.
Doing a little research, I am pretty sure this was Regal made, from the pre-WWII era (1930s - early 1940s). I have found a few other Regals with similar pickups from that time period. It didn't have knobs when it came in, so I added these knobs. I bought them in a lot of parts at a guitar show and suspect them to be late 50 - early 60s Rickenbacker knobs. They looked perfect on this thing, so they had to have them.
Perfect for your lap steel or Coodercaster project!
