Custom Handmade "Uncle Eagle" Double Horn Guitar w/ HSC & Gibson Custom Shop Pickups / Parts (1990s - Natural)

The eagle has landed!

This one is suuuuper special. The "Uncle Eagle" comes from our former employee and friend of the business, Quentin. Q's uncle worked at Gibson on the neck line in the 1980s & 1990s, and this was a bit of a side project for him in his spare time. So, if you are following along at home - this was built by a Gibson employee, in the Nashville Gibson factory, when the factory was closed / on his off time. The inlay work alone makes it pretty clear the craftsman uncle in question was no slouch. This is a serious, American made instrument made by a semi-professional luthier.

When it came in, it needed a lot of work and massaging. I did about 3-4 hours of fret work, rewired it with modern pickups, replaced the cheaper old parts he had used. The frets are some of my best work to date - level as a board and clean and shiny as a mirror. The guitar had a past level that made the thin inlays on the neck kinda weird, but they are totally solid. Just a cosmetic thing.

Other than that, now this guitar sports:

  • Mahogany, maple and walnut neck-through construction
  • Masterful inlay work - two Eagles and sun. Inlay work alone must have taken hours.
  • Gibson Custom Shop Custombucker PAFs
  • Gibson Custom Shop ToM Tailpiece
  • Epiphone USA ToM ABR-Style Bridge
  • 10 mm Guyker Tuners w/ Spade Head
  • Rewire with high end electronics, incld. super vintage "wax & paper" caps.
  • Wooden control cover

This is a REALLY cool piece of Gibson factory history / lore....but it also just happens to be a really sweet guitar. Plays and sounds like a good double horn should - absolute rock n roll machine!

As always, we cleaned it up, polished the finish, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action low and smooth. This guitar has a really nice 1990s ESP hardshell case, and I pack my guitars up tight and insure every package for the full purchase amount.

Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
