Fender Telecaster Electric Guitar *Refinish & Refret* w/ Vintage HSC (1960 - Blonde)

Model: Fender Telecaster - 1960. Refinished & refretted 40+ years ago.

SERIAL: 48627

Finish: Blonde Whiteguard *Refinished*

Weight: 7 pounds, 10.5 ounces

Set-up & Playability:  One of the sweetest guitars we have ever touched

Case: Non-original vintage hardshell (1970s)

Notes: This guitar is the nicest piece of player vintage I have ever played. The body and neck have been refinished and it has had a refret. This work was done about 40 years ago before the curent owners owned it. It has only had 2 owners and the last owner has had it for 35+ years.

This guitar comes in on consignment from from a really kind widow I met recently. Her husband of 50 years passed away a couple years ago, and he left behind quite the nice selection of gear. My associate Jad and I drove out to help her sort through and prioritize the collection and give her some guidence on which items to keep and which items to sell. This is one of the items she has decided to sell.

It is a shame that I never met her husband, as it seems we would have gotten along. He had a very unique guitar collection that was very immaculately maintained. I feel like I got to know him well poking around his music room. The proceeds from this sale will go to help out a very sweet older lady.

When I was able to get the guitar apart and inspect it: I realized the guitar has been refinished, but it one of the best vintage refinishes I have ever seen. It was done before the couple owned it, so at least 40 years ago. I could tell it was a refinish because the body and neck were stuck together, as if reassembled still a bit tacky. (I was able to safely dislodge them.) The label has been replaced as well, as the original was likely stripped off with the original finish.

I am assuming the same luthier that did the refinish refretted this guitar as well - as the frets are a more medium jumbo than the traditional skinny vintage fret size. During the refret, they also releveled the board to 10" radius - which makes it play infinetly better. Again, the quality of the four decade old luthiery work looks great. I am very impressed with this unknown luthier / tech's work.

Outside of that, everything checks out to be 1960. The serial on the neck plate dates to 1960. The pot codes date to 1960 - the pots and switch look original, the capacitor has been replaced and looks about 40 years old. The board is Brazilian, slab that has been re-radiused as discussed above. The body has the plugged sled pin holes. The back of the heel is blank, but it would have only been pencil at this period and was probably sanded off before the refinish.

The pickups, tuners, bridge and plate all look original and period correct for 1960. The pickups in particular sound amazing, super responsive and dynamic at picking up how hard or soft you play.

I got 1.635" nut width. Kinda in-between medium (1.65") and skinny (1.625).

1st fret: .825"

12th fret: .940"

I really took my time cleaning and polishing this guitar, as well as authenticating the guitar's originality (or rather reverse engineering all the work that was done.) I leveled, crowned and repolished the frets. I took the tuners and saddles off and gave them a bath in gun oil. Cleaned all the electronics and set-up and reintonated the guitar.

This guitar is a joy to play. It is truly inspiring. Excaliber levels of awesome. All of our packages are packed tight enough to survive the apocalypse and we insure every parcel for the full purchase amount.

Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
