ESTIMATES & BASIC MAINTENANCE:

Quick & Dirty Estimate: FREE
“Hey man, think you could take a look at this thing?” If you just want me to take a look at your gear and tell you what I think is wrong with it or how much it is worth in 10 mins or less — no obligation or sweat.

Detailed Written Estimate: $25 per Item | 5 for $100
Reserved for estimates that require disassembly or otherwise complicated triage; applies to estimates that require a formal written estimate for insurance, court proceedings, and other official purposes. Five items or more will be charged at $20 per. For large / bulk jobs or studio / estate appraisals; get a quote!

Diagnostic/Bench Fee: $25 per Item
This applies specifically to warranty repairs and extra lengthy diagnosis situations.

Quick Inspection Fee: $15 per Item
Buying a guitar from outside the store but want our opinion before you buy it? We'll give it a quick once-over and let you know of any issues we see. We will never tell you whether you should buy it, but we'll give you the information you need to make the decision that's right for you.

Standard Restring: Acoustic & Electric – $20 | Locking or 12 String – $40
*Plus price of strings* — either buy them here or provide your favorite brand and gauge. This option is for guitars that are in generally good condition besides some dusty strings and do not need a set up. Extended range players, add $3 per additional string. We can usually fit these in by the end of the day (unless we're swamped,) but if you need it right nowyou can pay our $30 Right Now Rush Fee and we'll get you taken care of.

Standard Setup: Acoustic, Electric & Bass - $60 | Locking Tremolo or 12 String – $80
*Plus price of strings* — either buy them here or provide your favorite brand and gauge. Extended range players, add $5 per additional string. Setups are usually complete within a week. We strongly prefer to let a guitar acclimate overnight before you pick it up so we can fine tune and tweak after the tension sets in. We prefer that if the guitar is going to change after setup, it does it on our watch instead of yours. BUT if you're in a hurry, we have a few Rush Fee options available. These are in addition to the basic setup fee and strings.

Next Day Setup Rush Fee (a.k.a. "I need it tomorrow.") - $30
End of Day Setup Rush Fee (a.k.a. "I need it by 5PM") - $75
Right Now Setup Rush Fee (a.k.a. "I need it done right now, stop what you are doing, it's a guitar emergency!") - $150

A Jack's Guitarcheology Setup Includes:
1. Good clean and polish
2. Raw wood fretboard & bridge conditioning with Lemon Oil (Linseed Oil available upon request)
3. Truss Rod Adjustment (if needed)
4. Saddle height adjustment
5. LIGHT fretboard and fret cleaning. *Extra cheesy or dirty fretboards will be charged for a fretboard cleaning and fret level*
6. Flush and clean electronics with contact cleaner
7. Tighten and lubricate machine head tuners
8. Inspect and tighten any loose screws or connections — stripped or missing screws replaced.
9. Pickup height and balance adjustment
10. Intonation check and adjustment
11. Longevity and stability issue inspection; early diagnosis of potential issues like cracks or swells
12. String change (strings not included)

Due to the random nature of local weather and humidity, we recommend set ups every 2-3 string changes or anytime we have experienced a drastic weather shift (i.e. cold to hot or vice versa; humid to dry or vice versa.) You know what they say about Tennessee weather… if you don’t like it, wait five minutes.

Generally, anytime you feel like your guitar is fighting you or not playing like it should, it is time for a set up.
SET UP ADD-ONS:

Basic Fretboard Cleaning & Light Fret Level: +$30
Frets and fretboard are cleaned and polished with a little more thorough hand than is included in the set up. Any sharp fret ends are filed down and tamed. Fretboard is liberated of all “finger cheese,” (i.e. dirt and grime build up; goes great on a Ritz® cracker.) Frets are very delicately leveled and reshaped to remove any buzzing or sizzle. The frets lightly sanded with a high grit sanding sponge, and are then finished with steel wool and finally a microfiber scouring pad. We recommend this treatment every 5-6 string changes, or around twice a year with moderate to heavy play.

Intense Fretboard Cleaning & Heavy Fret Level: +$95
Same as above, but reserved for guitars that have not had a level in a while and need a lot of extra care; this will only apply to guitars with decently divoted, damaged or flattened frets. Frets and fretboard are cleaned and polished. Any sharp fret ends are filed down and tamed. Fretboard is liberated of all “finger cheese.” Frets are HEAVILY leveled, reshaped and recrowned to remove divots, buzzing or sizzle. The frets are then finished with steel wool and finally a microfiber scouring pad. We recommend routine set ups with periodic basic cleanings & light fret leveling as described above to extend the life of your frets.

Fret Rescue - "Please, sir, my frets...": +$150
Same as above and above, but reserved for guitars that have not had a level in a LONG while and honestly could use a refret - but a refret is not in the cards right now. This will only apply to guitars with heavily divoted, damaged or flattened frets. I usually reserve this option for vintage guitars that have been out of commission for a while or have had heavy play for decades. This treatment is only for extreme cases. We recommend routine set ups with periodic basic cleanings & light fret leveling as described above to extend the life of your frets. WARNING: This is a measure for extreme cases, this is likely the last level your guitar will get before it will certainly need a refret.

MusicNomad FRINE Micro-Abrasion Fret Buff & Polish: +$10
Showroom shine! If you want people to be able to see your frets from space, this is the option for you. We use MusicNomad FRINE polish to make your frets mirror-shiny. This can be done after a fret level to give it that extra pizazz or between levels to keep your frets clean and presentable.

Includes economy replacement component; additional fees might apply for specialty / super high performance components. Got a shorted out dodad? A blown whosit? We can fix that. OTHER REPAIRS:

Strap Button Install: $15

Output Jack Repair: $35
Includes economy jack. This is probably the most common repair I do. In most cases, if we are not busy, I can do it while you wait. Takes about 15 minutes.

Spot Fret Level: $20 per Spot
*Up to 3 spots* If your guitar plays great, but has one or two dead frets or a little bit of sizzle, this is the option for you. Spot levels are used to tame down a few high frets. If you have more than 2-3 high spots though, it is time for a set up and light fret level. In most cases, if we are not busy, I can do 1-3 spot levels while you wait. Takes about 25-45 minutes.

Floyd Rose® / Locking Tremolo Balancing: $40
Say your strings are new and the relief setting in your neck is good, but your tremolo is either hiked way up or slammed way back. This is the option for you; we can get your locking tremolo floating flush to the body and back to where it is supposed to be. This options is ONLY available if the guitar is fully strung and otherwise ready to go — if the guitar needs strung or a truss rod adjustment, your guitar will require the full $80 set up.

Headstock Repair: $250+
Cracked headstocks — It happens to the best of them. Four hour minimum: complicated or otherwise elaborate repairs might be subject to additional fees depending on the severity of the damage. These cases will be charged at shop rate.

Acoustic Guitar Electrification: $150 + Parts
Tired of micing that acoustic guitar? We can help with that. There are a lot of ways to eat this Reese’s®, but we will find the electrification method that works best with your particular set of circumstances. Does not include pickup or hardware; you can either provide them or we can order them for you for the cost of parts, shipping and taxes.

Rubber Bridge Installation: No Electrification – $195 | With Electrification – $295
Includes my original rubber bridge. Does not include pickups and electronics. There is no denying that my rubber bridge has become one of the things I am most known for. If you want me to rubberize your guitar, I will do that for you. Keep in mind that only certain kinds of guitars are eligible, guitars with floating bridges are the easiest — but if it can happen, I will make it happen. If you are curious if your guitar will work, shoot me an email and let’s talk about it.

Advanced Rewire: $120 + Parts
(4 pot or more Circuit)

Acoustic Guitar Bridge Seal:
$75 Epoxy
$120 Wood Glue
+ Setup (required for bridge seals)

Is your acoustic guitar’s bridge lifting? Having tuning stability issues? We can help with that too! Bridge reseals require a setup afterward. We can fix it the traditional way, with woodglue...or we can fix it the modern way with epoxy. I would not recommend using epoxy on a vintage Martin or Gibson, but it likely would not be worth the cost to woodglue a sentimental $80 beater. We are happy to adjust the repair to your guitar and your budget.

Acoustic Guitar Neck / Heel Seal:
$75 Epoxy
$120 Wood Glue
+ Setup (if needed, evaluated case-by-case)

Is your acoustic guitar’s neck seperating? Did you catch it early? We can maybe save you from a full reset. We can fix it the traditional way, with woodglue...or we can fix it the modern way with epoxy. I would not recommend using epoxy on a vintage Martin or Gibson, but it likely would not be worth the cost to woodglue a sentimental $80 beater. Heels may not need a setup but it all depends on the guitar. We are happy to adjust the repair to your guitar and your budget.

Binding Repair:
$80 per Quarter Side
$160 per Full Side
$320 for Complete Rebind
(Add $60 materials charge if the binding is missing)
Is the binding on your guitar falling off? We can fix that!
***Old repair attempts that require excessive cleanup of the binding channel may be subject to additional charges. Additionally, if the binding needs to be completely, materials charges will apply.***

Custom Shop Work: Market Price
Custom shop work will be taken on an incredibly item-by-item basis. We reserve the right to turn down jobs based on tooling, complexity or workload. That being said, we love a weird project and it is usually not very hard to talk us into stuff; we give in easily to peer pressure. If we cannot help you, we likely know someone who can in our wonderful Nashville Luthier Network, so, contact us and let’s talk it out!

Due to our limited tooling and large workload, we are not currently taking refrets or neck resets. For these services we highly recommend Scale Model Guitars or Rhett's Frets.

All other repairs are taken on a case-by-case basis and are calculated:

Parts cost + ($60 x H)

(H = Number of Hours Spent on Repair)

Most repairs take 2-4 hours or less.

PEDAL & EFFECTS REPAIRS

WE don’t do pedal repairs, but you can still bring them to us — we have a guy! Our contract pedal repair man is none other than Paul Haggard of Haggtronix. Paul is a wizard of the soldering iron and we sell his pedals in the store.

Paul comes about bi-monthly (as in, twice a month) and picks up the latest dropoffs and drops off the last visit’s repairs. So, repairs usually take around 2-3 weeks from dropoff to return.

BENCH FEE: $30

In some rare cases, Paul is unable to fix the pedal; usually because it has some sort of fried proprietary part that is not available on the aftermarket. The bench fee is owed whether the pedal is able to be fixed or not. The pedal may be forfeited to be scrapped for parts in place of the bench fee.

If the pedal is able to be fixed, GOOD NEWS! Paul works cheap. Most pedal repairs come in around $40-$60.

AMP REPAIR

We do take some amp repair, both in-house and on contract with some local amp builders, but it might be best to contact us before hauling your amp down to the shop to make sure we can help. Otherwise…

Bring ‘er on down and we’ll getchya sorted out!
